Braces in Hudson & Port Richey

Traditional braces that reliably correct crowding, gaps, and bite problems for kids, teens, and adults.

What You Need To Know

Braces for Kids, Teens, and Adults

Braces are the time-tested way to straighten teeth and correct a wide range of bite problems, and they remain one of the most reliable options in orthodontics. At Estrada Dentistry, Dr. Jaime Estrada provides braces for children, teens, and adults across Pasco County, with treatment planned around each patient's smile and goals.

What Braces Can Correct

Braces handle everything from simple to complex. They straighten crowded or crooked teeth, close gaps, and correct bites that do not meet evenly, including overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Because brackets and wires give an orthodontist precise control over each tooth, braces are often the best choice for more involved cases that aligners cannot fully address. Straighter teeth are also easier to clean, which protects your long-term oral health.

Braces for Every Age

Braces are not a teenager thing. We treat children whose bites are still developing, teens at the classic age for braces, and plenty of adults who never had the chance to straighten their teeth earlier in life. It is never too late, and Dr. Estrada builds the treatment around where your teeth are now. For patients who want a faster timeline, he also offers FastBraces, and for those who prefer a discreet option, clear aligners.

Metal and Ceramic Braces

Traditional braces today come in more than one style. Metal braces use stainless-steel brackets and are the most economical and the most durable, which makes them a common choice for younger patients. Ceramic braces use tooth colored brackets that blend in, so they are far less noticeable, at a somewhat higher cost and with a little more care needed to avoid staining. Both move teeth the same way. Dr. Estrada will go over which fits your priorities on appearance and budget.

What to Expect

Treatment starts with an evaluation, where Dr. Estrada examines how your teeth and jaw fit together and talks through your options and a realistic timeline, often somewhere between a year and a few years depending on the case. Once your braces are placed, you come in for periodic adjustments as your teeth move. You will avoid hard, sticky, and chewy foods that can damage brackets, and brush and floss carefully around the wires, which the team will show you how to do. When the braces come off, a retainer holds the new alignment so the teeth do not drift back.

Adjustments, Emergencies, and Comfort

The day-to-day of braces is easier than most people expect. You come in every few weeks for an adjustment, which takes a few minutes and may leave the teeth tender for a day or two as they settle. Between visits, the usual hiccups are a loose bracket or a wire end that starts poking, both of which are quick fixes once you call us, and a little orthodontic wax handles the poking until you can come in. Soreness after an adjustment responds to soft foods and over-the-counter pain relief, and it fades fast as your mouth gets used to the new position.

Frequently Asked Questions About Braces

No. Plenty of our orthodontic patients are adults who never had the chance to straighten their teeth earlier in life. Teeth respond to treatment at any age, so it is rarely too late to fix a bite or close a gap that has bothered you for years.

Yes. When your braces come off, a retainer holds your new smile in place while everything settles. Dr. Estrada will explain how and when to wear it so your results last.

Skip sticky, hard, and chewy foods like caramel, hard candy, popcorn, and ice, since they can bend wires or pop brackets loose. Cut crunchy items such as apples and carrots into small pieces. Keeping up with brushing and flossing around the brackets prevents staining and decay, so your teeth look healthy when the braces come off.
